* Title:Net weight
Excavation number: HR 5404
*

Excavation notes:
This net weight was found in a room which may have been used as a shop connected to a residence. A nearby room had a paved floor, which the excavators thought might have been a bath. This object was found with the blade which shares the same excavation number. This net weight was found 5 feet below the surface.

Location: 8, LVI, 6

Other notes:
Balls of clay like this were probably used to weigh down nets used in fishing. Since no netting or string survives from this period, we do not know for sure how they were used. Some objects like this have holes through the middle. This has led some people to believe that they were actually beads.
